1- See a movie at the downtown Austin Alamo Drafthouse
This is an awesome movie theater that has a full bar and restaurant and you get to eat/drink while you watch your movie. We went to one over R&R (there are 5 or so locations) and Nick's jaw just about dropped at the list of beers they had on tap. Seriously, there were about 40 of them. We want to go to the downtown one though because we've heard it's the best.
2- Float down the river
A definite summer must in Texas! You float down the Guadalupe River in inner tubes and there are some "chutes" or waterfalls that you can go down in your tubes. And, of course, you can rent a tube for your cooler, ha ha. It's supposedly a giant party and sounds like the perfect way to cool off when it's stinkin' hot (a.k.a. always during the summer). Fellow blogger Colleen did it not too long ago and her pictures are awesome. It reminds me of the lazy river at most waterparks
3- Kayaking
We really want to go kayaking on the river/lake we took the dogs to back in April. The water is pretty calm and they rent kayaks all along the river, so we thought it looked like fun!
4- Barton Spring
Another Austin sight, this is a spring that maintains a temperature of 70 degrees at all times of the year. Sweet!
5- Eat lots of BBQ
Um ya, that's a given.
6- Fort Worth Stockyards
We've been here before, but it was when we first moved here, and we told some friends we needed to take them there. The best part is the nightly longhorn cattle drive through the main street. Plus, it has a lot of great shops and restaurants and bars.
7- UT Football Game
We already have tickets to the first home game in Austin, woohoo! If there's one thing they take seriously in Texas, it's football! Can't wait to see that see the sea of people in burnt orange
